“My wife and I moved here in the year 2001, and I quickly realized that this area really lacked opportunities for youth to do sports,” said Dean Havlik, the founder and president of Grand Junction Blackout. “I really wanted to give our youth some more opportunities.” Continue Reading: Construction Starts on Youth Sports Complex News @ gjsentinel.com

GJ Blackout Announces Partnership with Mesa Juniors Volleyball Club in New Blackout Sports Fieldhouse
Grand Junction, CO – GJ Blackout is excited to announce that Mesa Juniors Volleyball Club willbe partnering with the Blackout Sports Fieldhouse, set to open in May 2025. This partnership aligns two major youth sports organizations in Mesa County, establishing the Blackout
Fieldhouse as a premier destination for youth sports and community development in Western Colorado.
Founded in Palisade, Colorado, in 2003, Mesa Juniors Volleyball Club has served young athletes for over two decades, encouraging the benefits of multi-sport participation and fostering physical, mental, and social development. As a non-profit organization, Mesa Juniors offers competitive volleyball programs for age groups 12 through 18, with a strong commitment to training multi-sport athletes while supporting their volleyball aspirations. The club’s guiding
philosophy emphasizes the positive impacts of sports on adolescent development.
With the anticipated opening of the Blackout Fieldhouse, Mesa Juniors Volleyball will provide a full range of volleyball programming, including competitive teams and after-school training in a dedicated, safe, and accessible space. The fieldhouse will host four full-size basketball courts, six volleyball courts, and 12 pickleball courts, providing an all-encompassing environment for youth athletics. This collaboration aims to address a longstanding need in Mesa County for structured after-school sports activities that promote health, wellness, and positive mentorship.
“We are excited to welcome Mesa Juniors Volleyball Club as a partner in the Blackout Sports Fieldhouse,” said Dean Havlik, President of GJ Blackout. “This partnership embodies our shared commitment to fostering youth development in a supportive environment, where kids can enjoy sports under the guidance of trained coaches and mentors.”
